Don’t wish, make it happen

A couple days ago I went to the nail salon, and I was taken care of by Sam (Not the technician’s real name). Sam is one of the funniest nail techs I’ve ever had my nails done with. We constantly joke around and he really makes the getting my manicure and pedicure experience amazing!

While Sam was giving me a manicure he started pointing at all of the beautiful renovations that they have done with the place. It really is beautiful in there! Sam pointed at two big screen TVs they had in the salon and asked me if I liked them. I told Sam that I loved the new TVs and that I loved even more the lovely scenery the TV screen had on that very moment. The screen displayed a gorgeous vacation spot called Bora Bora, an island in French Polynesia.

This island is surrounded with crystal clear beautiful ocean water. There are these cute bungalows on top of that crystal clear water that tourists reserve during their vacation. You can certainly expect to pay anywhere from $800-$1200 a night staying on this breathtaking island. It truly is Crème de la crème.

As I mentioned to Sam that I loved the scenery, he looked back at the screen and said “That is quite beautiful”. I said to Sam “I wish I could go there”. As soon as I said that Sam’s face changed from mesmerized by the scenery on the TV screen, to a serious face. I was taken back at that moment and Sam looked at me and said “Do not wish, make it happen! Life will pass you by wishing for things you want to do. Stop dreaming about it and just do it! You are living in the land of opportunity (USA), if you live here, you can accomplish anything you want if you work for it.”

I’ve always heard those words before. The typical “Make your dreams come true”. But there was a different conviction in Sam’s words that I never felt better. Almost like he transmitted this powerful energy to me. At that moment I told myself internally: “You can do anything you set your mind to, you are limitless”. It felt great!

I looked at Sam and said “You know what Sam, you are absolutely right! I will plan my trip to Bora Bora!”. Sam smiled at me and gave me a gentle pat on my hand and continued to finish my manicure.

I share this to anyone reading to say, do not waste your life wishing. If you want something, go for it! This life was given to us to live all the experiences we want. Even if it takes us a little longer to reach our goals, that is okay. As long as you are working towards your goals and happiness, you are living a fulfilled life.

Tomorrow is never promised, we only got today to reach for our dreams.

As always, xoxo
