Today marks the first day of the last month of the year. Yikes! This year went by so fast for me.
Can we just take a moment to say:
WE MADE IT!
December is always a very emotional, stressful but very happy time for me and my family. Can you feel all of those feelings all at once? For me, yes! During this month it’s my son’s birthday and even though that can be a happy time for me as well, it comes with the realization that my son is growing up. As a parent, I love the fact that my son is growing up and becoming his own person. I love watching all of his milestones being accomplished. I love getting to know him at each transitional stage of his life. But I also remember where he was a year ago and how much he’s changed, that makes me nostalgic.
Christmas and New Years are the two most important holidays for my families. We have many events on both sides of the family (My husband’s and mine) for the entire month. I guess you can say that we spend the most time together during this month.
But can we talk about the restless weeks of upcoming events? Or the stress that comes along with Christmas shopping and budgeting? Not to mention all of the birthdays in December. For some reason a lot of us in the family got pregnant around the same time (Different years, same season) and there are about 5 birthdays in December. And you better believe there will be a birthday celebration for each one of them. Because birthdays are also very important for both of my families.
The day that warms my heart the most is New Year’s Eve. I cry every year when the clock strikes the new year. I hug each family member with a big kiss and tell them how much I love them. I also tell them how grateful I am to spend another year with them.
On New Year’s Day I am reminded of what a blessing it is to see another full year. I am also reminded of how I get to have all of my loved ones living healthy and as happy as they can be.
This is the beginning of the end of the year for us all. Even if it seems stressful, be grateful to be around family and friends for another Christmas.
As always, xoxo
